SHARING LIFE STORIES
Manuel Barreto, today
would be 107 years old, was a Portuguese worker that came to São Paulo when he
was 16 years old.
He was my
great-grandfather and he was a very calm man, used to speak slowly and low.
When he came to São Paulo
as other many Portuguese, started to work in a bakery. After many years working very hard, he
launched a food industry specialized in sweets at Bela Vista district and gave
this name to the company.
This company became very
famous in 60’s and 70’s, especially by its dark
green trucks that were
used to deliver in several cities.
After this success, he
decided to visit the village that he was born in Portugal and as a common tradition
there he asked to build a church as a gift
to his old friends.
My family is really proud
about his trajectory.
