Life Stories
My great-grandfather, João, was born in 1901 in a
small town in the South of the Lebanon. He lived with his two sisters, one
brother and his parents.
In 1918, when he was 17 Lebanon was under the Turkish
army and they forced him to fight for them. He didn’t want to, so he ran away.
He hid himself in the mountains until the army left the town.
When he arrived at his town he took my
great-grandmother, Chafika, and came to Brazil by boat to escape from the army.
He arrived here and went to Rio de Janeiro where he
lived for about one year. Then he moved to the interior of São Paulo to have a
better lifestyle.
He lived in a city called Pindorama where he had ten
kids, and one of them is my grandfather Rames.
About
Me
Hello,
My name is Carolina
Nassar. I’m 12 years old and I’m from Sao Paulo, Brazil. I am tall and thin. I
have long, wavy, brown hair and blue eyes. I am friendly, creative and
organized but I’m very worried about school because I hate getting bad grades.
I have one brother called Augusto and a sister called Vitoria, my mom’s called
Bianca and my dad’s called João. I have a dog called Dusty and he’s a Golden
Retriever.
I love playing tennis but I don’t like
playing volleyball, when I play it, my arm hurts and I can’t pass the ball to the
other side! I hate studying, mainly Geography, I can’t stand it, it’s boring…
I’m really interested in arts, it’s so funny! My favorite actor is Josh
Hutcherson, he’s brilliant.
At home I have to make my bed and lay or
clear the table, but I don’t have to do the ironing. At school, I must study
for the tests and bring all the material of the day but I mustn’t use my cell
phone during the classes. I usually spend 2 hours everyday doing my homework.
I want to be an architect and draw many
houses or apartments, I love drawing. I hope to study at USP, just like my mom
did. I’d like to live abroad in Germany, for six months and do a course in the
USA.
