Sharing Life Stories
by Juliana Cornacchioni

My great grandfather was born in Itally in a city called Fossalto  in 1891. He didn´t use to work and he loved traveling. His name was Giovanni.
When he was young he went  to the USA to live in Ohio, there he worked as a tailor. He came back to Italy and after sometime he decided to live in Argentina with a friend. The ship stopped in Brazil and they hopped off. When the ship left he said goodbye to his friend. He decided to stay because he really liked the country. He bought a small farm near Sâo Paulo and started selling fruits and vegetables .  After sometime he married my great grandmother  and started working as a tailor in São Paulo. He had four children and many grandchildren and great grandchildren . My great grandmother died young, she didn’t even know her great grandchildren, but my my great grandfather died very old. He died two years before I was born, in 1998 when he was 107 years old
Today everyone who met him tell stories about him. They all call him “nono” which means “grandpa” in Italian.
