Lara I. de Oliveira

About Me

My name is Lara and I’m twelve years old. I have long, a little bit curly, brown hair. I’m medium height and my friends says I’m crazy, but I’m shy and really lazy.
I have two brothers, Martin and Alan. They are older than me and they live in Campinas. My mother Vita is Russian so I know some words in Russian. My father Gustavo is Brazilian but he speaks English, French and Spanish.
I love dancing ballet and jazz, I have lessons of them twice a week. I play handball once a week, in school. I hate washing the dishes on the weekend because after lunch I like eating chocolate or brigadeiro. I don’t mind being sick during the week because I miss school but in the future I’m going to have problems in tests. I’m interested in TV programmes and traveling. My favourite food is sushi, but I like eating Chinese food, Mexican food and pasta too. I like listening to music and cooking.
At home, I have to make my bed and helping with the housework. In school I must stay quite during classes but it is impossible. I mustn’t sleep in school but it is too difficult because I like sleeping.
I spend four hours doing homework and studying. In activities after school I spend nine hours. In this nine hours I dance ballet, jazz, play handball, do drama classes, English classes and volunteer work.  In the end of the week I’m very tired.
In the future I want to work with something related to children or old people. I want to study at USP or UNICAMP but I don’t know what I want to study.
If I live abroad I want to live in the United States, Mexico or any place in Europe.

Sharing Life Stories

My grandfather Sílvio de Oliveira was born in São Paulo in 1928. He was an engineer and he used to read and play tennis with his son, my father Gustavo, very often. During his life, he lived in three different cities.
When he was 10 years old he moved to Fortaleza with his family. After 8 years, he moved again to Salvador to study engineering. While he was having a normal class, he met my grandmother, Lucia. They got married and they decided to live in São Paulo again. They had three children: Eugênia, Gustavo and Sílvio Jr.
After some years, he said to me that his favorite city was Salvador because he had eaten a lot of acarajés by the time he lived there.
